Film poster
This is my finished film poster I created using the Photoshop tool on my computer, I wanted to get the best photograph for my main image and I think my image is different yet shows what my film is trying to say, having an eye looking in distress this shows what the person is looking out for, maybe he is looking for 'the stalkers'.
For my main image I wanted to take a raw photograph on set that I could brush and develop to make it look as professional as possible. The title I reflected and made it red and black to make it eye catching and stand out. The empire magazine rating is at the top left hand corner and the billing block and production teams are placed at the bottom of the poster.
Film magazine
Film poster and magazine plan
Below is my plan for my magazine and poster. this is the draft i made whilst looking into how exactly i wanted my magazine front cover and film poster to look, the top 2 images reflect this and show how i wanted my final 2 pieces to look.
Institution choice and why?
The institution we chose to support our films production was 'film 4'. This is because film 4 is a well known however secretive institution that we thought could adapt our trailer the best. Below is the film 4 intro:
Not only is film 4 a British broadcasting channel but it also funds small independent films such as 'this is England and 'four lions'. By having knowledge of the films the institution has funded we went for this off the wall style as we thought it would be the best to go with seen as we wanted our trailer is the same sort of style.

Four lions is a perfect example of the film 4 production films they have funded. This is the type of independent style we wanted to get through in our own trailer and my film poster.
Synopsis
SYNOPSIS
'The Stalkers'
Genre: Horror
A group of friends out one night at Halloween. Unusual events unfold when they become targeted and stalked upon during the route home. They find themselves in a deserted place - lost between the forest and a stray tunnel which seems to lead to nowhere. With nobody to get hold of, no way of help - will they survive?
Location shots
These are my location shots took the day/night we went to film our trailer. All of the images above that you can see are at one point or another included in our trailer, distinctive shots for example such as the bottom right image that says 'no hops' and the tunnel images.
Prop list
The props we mainly used for the filming on set was a eastpak grey distinctive bag, american apparel black hooded top, a torch and a tripod. We used the tripod to easily move the camera at some points in the filming. The back hoodie was used to show that it is darkness and as plain as we could get it using dark colouring throughout the production, this would see to go well with the back pack. The torch was a main prop as we used this frequently and wanted to show the effect the torch had to offer, holding up against 'danger' signs creating a horrific mood.
Schedule of filming
Risk assesment and venue release forms
Above are my risk assessment form and venue release form, we had to fill these in before and after we filmed to make sure we were safe, what we should have looked out for and what complications we came across when the filming took place.
Contributors release form
This is my contributors release form i had to fill out when we made our trailer, this tells us the names of the contributors involved and my role within the making of the film.
Theoretical campaign in my selected genre
In this blog post i will be talking about 2 posters in my selected horror genre, also adding in the synopsis on each one, telling you a bit more about the film, then finally analyse the posters and what they connote.
The Devil Inside
Synopsis: In Italy, a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism. via IMDB
The colour scheme in this film poster is very sketchy and old, this showing perhaps the period of when the film has been set or even the forbidden church secrets reflecting up most on the way the poster is set out. The unclear picture with red markings on the top right hand corner possibly connoting blood.
The main image is a picture of a woman's face in shock, she could be looking at her own reflection as her hands are pulling her bottom lip down only to find an engraved lords cross inside her mouth 'the devil inside'.
This woman's face s very bland and she looks as if she has not slept in a while, this combining with the shock when she found out if in fact the 'thing' that is inside her in an evil spirit.
The image shown to me and everyone else on billboards and bus stops through the country is very much what the title is trying to say 'the devil inside' and a gritty picture effect put over the top of it to make it look more horrific and terrifying.
The tagline 'no soul is safe' is is red writing, which means blood and terror, this goes well with the title of the film being in bright white writing in order to stand out more.
The Cabin In The Woods
Synopsis: Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.
The colours used in this film poster are very grey and dark however white at the bottom in contrast, the background is very big tree's is a wooded area, the effect put in with it is very dark and airy.
The main image is a cabin three times on top of one another in different positions, this may mean that the events that have gone on in this cabin is very strange and bizzare.
This poster has a very horrific quality to it, making people see it and immediately know which genre it represents, because of the title and effect of the picture people will automatically think that this is a horror film.
At the bottom of the poster it has a billing board with the names of the people in the film and production teams involved. The tagline 'you think you know the story' sets a mood right away with people wanting to find out the true story behind 'the cabin in the woods'. The date the film comes out is also next to the billing block.
In conclusion these two films have posters and a synopsis easily adapted by people to know that they are horror films. They are both good films of their genre and set the tone overall.
codes and conventions of film posters
In this post i will be talking about the codes and conventions in two different film posters, from two different genres.
The hills have eyes is a horror film that came out in march 2006. This film pushed the boundaries of horror films in the way of the gory side and more physical side of creating disgusting creatures people would be scared to look at. This poster is quite bright for a horror film poster however shows an arm, which looks like a mans arm pushing a girls face down. This hand is not usual and has a glove on the hand, the image is quite dirty looking and this could be seen as it being a dirty atmosphere, the colour of the image is in a sandy colour. The woman's face shows that she is scared looking up towards the figure that is holding her down. The font is in big writing for the words 'hills' and 'eyes' as these are the words most distinctive for people to remember about the film.
The editing to the image makes it look brushed up and more of a suspense riddled picture, the main focus throughout the image is the woman's eyes, as we want to the find out what the figure she is looking at looks like. The billing board at the bottom left hand side of the screen in in orange to stand out mixed with the darker beige colour at the bottom of the screen. The tagline 'the lucky ones die first' makes this poster get even more scary. This feature will embed in peoples minds to see why this film is so frightening, surely it cant be this scary? therefore the people then pay to see the film, that's why this poster in its own genre is created very well.
Anchor-man is a 2004 comedy film about a group of anchor men and a new woman anchor presenting the news. The poster to this film is created very well, mainly because the title is in big and bold lettering with the actors name 'Will Ferrell' directly above it. The colours used are very bright as the blue background with a 'channel 4' print on goes well with the redness of the main anchor-mans jacket.
The main anchor-man shown I the red blazer 'Ron Burgundy' is standing like he has authority as he is the main lead anchor, the other set behind him are standing in their own generic pose. The yellow writing of 'Will Ferrell' is also used at the top if the poster again in a jokingly fashion, the tagline reads 'They bring you the news, so you don't have to get it yourself' very much in keeping with the tone of the entire film. The billing block is shown at the bottom is silver lettering so people could still be able to read it.
Batman the dark knight rise campaign
In
this post I will be analysing The Dark Knight Rises Campaign. Anticipation for the release of
the new batman film has never been more popular, as the last film in the Christopher Nolan franchise, fans have been eagerly waiting for the chance to see the follow up film to the 2008 film 'The dark knight'. I will be looking at the key area's such as: Trailer, poster and viral/online campaigns all related to promoting and advertising the film
Trailer
This is the final trailer, the fourth trailer, that would do its best to tease fans and make them want to go see the film. The trailers centralized around the rise of the villain 'bane' and the defeat of 'batman'. This will make the audience want to find out what happens to batman and want to see if he can 'rise' to defeat his enemy 'the dark knight rises'. The trailer focus' on showing us the destruction of Gotham, showing buildings being torn apart, the bridge being blown up and prisoners infesting the streets as bane is able to take charge with batman in distress, will he rise? this is what we want to know. The trailer connotes that this franchise is coming to an end, as this is the ending to the 'dark knight franchise' the director and producers wanted to get this across in the final film, also coming across in the 4th and final trailer.

Magazine
Empire released two
magazines which were both the same however had different characters of the film on the front cover. There is both one made for the Villain Bane and one for the
Hero Batman. This was done so the fans could get to grips on what characters were in the film and also could make two good collectible items for collectors.
Posters
Above are two movie
posters representing the new film (the first poster) and the 2008 batman film poster. Both posters are very much alike as the have batman in the same sort of way in the middle of the poster, on the 2008 batman poster you see the batman logo burning in the background, where as on the new Christopher Nolan film it shows near enough the entire background to where batman is standing, burning to the ground, this being Gotham city. These posters are done relatively in the same way as by the colour scheme and layout it would be distinctive enough for fans to realise it is a batman poster.
Viral/online/general marketing
There was many viral and online promotion techniques the dark knight rises produced, most of them coming directly from there own website. They had ways to do this as they put an image on the website and with every #thefirerises tweet a pixel of an image (the first image of the new film) would be released, this image is below.
A promotion campaign also took place in city's throughout the world as the batman logo would be painted somewhere in a local place, in a well known area. This happened in my city Liverpool and this is the spot in the Albert dock and people had to find the logo and locate it. Another promotional campaign was when batman worked with the phone company 'nokia' and created this advert.
This promotional campaign would see to mix in mobile phones with the film, creating a phone that replicated the movie, for example Bruce Wayne has this phone therefore you should go out and buy it.
